New OpenCart site for Trinity Wear

This week we’ve launched a new OpenCart ecommerce website for Leicester based Trinity Wear. Trinity offer embroidery on a range of clothing items and this presented new challenges when setting up OpenCart. Many other embroidery sites have complicated add to cart functions that easily lose the customer and can lead to errors.

We used OpenCart v2 for the new site. Released in October 2014, version 2 of the open source ecommerce system features a new responsive control panel, responsive default theme and many new features.

The front end was completely redesigned to match Trinity’s existing branding and making use of the Google Material design icon set. The menu changes to a ‘touch to open’ type menu on smaller screens as they don’t have a hover function and banners are also touch enabled.

A number of third-party extensions were used including a bulk product importer, image hover effect and a blog section. We also did some custom PHP development to enable a bulk order form grid on the product page. This calculates pricing including bulk discounts before adding the items to the cart.

Redirecting the old website pages and Google Analytics setup was also part of the project and Trinity are running a Google Adwords campaign to kickstart traffic to the site.
